What this site is, and what it is not
Benchmark Money publishes information about Canadian financial products and provides calculators that do arithmetic on numbers you supply. That is all it does.
Nothing here is financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. We are not a bank, a broker, a lender, a mortgage brokerage, or a licensed financial adviser, and no page on this site takes your personal circumstances into account. A calculator result is arithmetic, not a recommendation.
Decisions about mortgages, registered accounts, credit and debt have consequences that last for years. Before acting on anything you read here, talk to a professional who is licensed to advise you and who knows your full situation.
Accuracy, and its limits
Credit card terms change constantly. Annual fees, interest rates, earn rates and welcome offers are revised by issuers without notice, and offers are sometimes restricted by province or withdrawn early.
We record the date each card’s details were last checked and display it alongside that card. We work to keep the data current, but we cannot guarantee that any figure on this site is accurate at the moment you read it.
Always confirm the terms with the issuer before you apply. The issuer’s own disclosure documents are the authoritative source, not us.
Calculators are estimates
Our calculators use standard formulas and the assumptions stated on each page. They deliberately exclude things that vary by person and by lender — property taxes, insurance, condo fees, closing costs, contribution room limits, benefit clawbacks, fees your lender may charge, and future changes to tax rules or interest rates.
Where a calculator relies on a government or regulator figure, such as a mortgage insurance premium or a qualifying rate, that figure may change. Your lender’s numbers will be the ones that count, and they may differ from ours.
How we are paid
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and are approved for the product, we may receive a referral fee from the issuer or an intermediary network. This does not cost you anything and does not change the terms you are offered.
Compensation does not influence our ratings, our rankings, or the order in which products appear. Products that pay us nothing are listed on the same terms as those that do, and we identify which is which.
Links to other sites
When you follow a link to a bank, issuer or other third party, you leave this site and become subject to their terms and their privacy policy. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their security, or how they treat your information.
Using the site
You may read the site, use the calculators, and share links to our pages. Please do not:
- Scrape, harvest or systematically copy our card data or content, whether by automated means or otherwise.
- Republish substantial parts of our content as your own.
- Attempt to interfere with the site, its security, or its availability to other people.

The text, design, calculators and underlying code on this site belong to Benchmark Money unless stated otherwise. Product names, brand names, logos and trademarks referred to on this site belong to their respective owners; we use them to identify the products we write about, and their use here does not imply any endorsement of us by those owners, or of them by us.

The site is provided as it is. We make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the information on it is complete, current or fit for any particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Benchmark Money is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from any decision you make in reliance on it, including financial loss. You are responsible for your own financial decisions.
