What we like, and what we don’t
Worth having
- 5 points a dollar across five categories, which is a wide accelerated set at any fee
- A $200 annual lifestyle credit that recurs rather than being a first year sweetener
- Six airport lounge passes through the Visa Airport Companion programme
- 25% more points when you add another cardholder
- Up to 200,000 points in the welcome offer if you spend enough
Watch out for
- The $599 fee is among the highest personal card fees in Canada
- The full welcome offer needs $75,000 of spending in a year, which is out of reach for most applicants
- Additional cards cost $99 each
- BMO does not publish the insurance amounts for this card in any document we could retrieve
- BMO Rewards points are worth about two thirds of a cent, so 5 points a dollar is roughly 3.3%

The earning fine print
Earn rates by category were NOT captured from a BMO-controlled page during this pass. The product URL returned 404 and the terms popup lists only the welcome offer and credits for this card. Do not populate earn rates without a fresh fetch. Cash advance fee 1.00% or minimum $5.00 per BMO's cost-of-borrowing insert.
The welcome offer
- Welcome bonus
- 80,000 points after you spend $6,000, within 4 months
- Second tier
- 40,000 points after you spend $30,000, within 6 months
- Offer ends
- 2026-10-31
What the offer actually requires
Up to $2,300 in value: 80,000 bonus points for $6,000 spent within 110 days; a further 40,000 for $30,000 within 180 days; a further 80,000 for $75,000 within 365 days. Offer period December 15, 2025 to October 31, 2026. Tier 1 months recorded as 4 because the true window is 110 days; the third tier does not fit the two-tier schema and is described here.

What the benefits really mean
$200 annual lifestyle credit and 6 lounge passes via the Visa Airport Companion Program, per BMO's credit card terms and conditions popup. Insurance coverages and amounts were not captured from a BMO-controlled page during this pass. Partial record: earn rates and insurance amounts are unverified and left null. Do not publish this card until a fresh fetch of the product page succeeds. The $200 lifestyle credit is an annual credit but its qualifying-merchant restrictions were not verified. The full 200,000-point welcome requires $75,000 of spend in 365 days, which is unattainable for most applicants.
Our verdict
The earn structure is the best part. Five points a dollar across groceries, dining, drugstores, gas and travel covers most of a household budget, and at BMO Rewards values that is around 3.3% on the majority of what you spend. Add the recurring $200 credit and the fee is effectively $399.
What we cannot tell you is what the insurance covers, because BMO does not publish the amounts for this card anywhere we could reach, and we will not print numbers we have not seen. At $599 that matters: premium card buyers are largely buying the insurance. The welcome offer needs the same scepticism. The 200,000 point headline requires $75,000 of spending inside a year, so price the card on the first two tiers rather than the number in the advertisement.

Where this came from. BMO credit card terms and conditions popup (welcome offer tiers, offer period, $200 lifestyle credit, 6 lounge passes) and BMO cost-of-borrowing insert CC190-COB-EN (06-26) for $599 annual fee, $99 additional card fee, 21.99% purchases, 23.99% cash advances/balance transfers and 2.50% FX. PARTIAL RECORD. Earn rates and insurance not yet verified.. We take every figure from the issuer’s own pages, never from another comparison site, and we leave a field blank rather than guess at it.
