What the benefits really mean
The lowest FIXED business card rate widely available in Canada. 12.99% at Access Credit Union and Cambrian, 13.99% at Coast Capital. Access Credit Union publishes 12.99% on BOTH purchases and cash advances, which is exceptional (most cards jump to 22.99% on advances). SHARED-PLATFORM CARD: issued by Collabria Financial Services Inc.; credit unions are referral agents. Confirmed distributors include Coast Capital Savings, Access Credit Union, Steinbach Credit Union, Cambrian Credit Union, Alterna Savings, Libro Credit Union, Innovation Federal Credit Union, Caisse Alliance, Provincial Credit Union, Valley Credit Union, Cornerstone Credit Union and Beem Credit Union. Innovation Federal CU also publishes the $25 fee. PERSONAL GUARANTEE required (Alterna: 'Apply online today with a personal guarantee'). Insurance limited to zero-liability fraud protection, purchase protection and extended warranty, underwritten by American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida. MEMBERSHIP-BASED restriction, not geographic. Coast Capital and Access both publish availability across all provinces and territories. Issued by Collabria Financial Services Inc.. The issuer publishes a formula rather than a purchase rate: "12.99% fixed (Access Credit Union, Cambrian) / 13.99% (Coast Capital), varies by credit union". We leave the rate field empty rather than publish arithmetic the issuer never published. The issuer publishes a formula rather than a cash advance rate: "12.99% (Access) / 13.99% (Coast Capital), varies by credit union". We leave the rate field empty rather than publish arithmetic the issuer never published. The purchase rate differs by a full point between credit unions carrying the identical card name (12.99% Access/Cambrian vs 13.99% Coast Capital). A personal guarantee IS required. No rewards at all. The low rate is the entire proposition. You must join a credit union first. Coast Capital's own rates page does not publish the cash advance rate, supplementary card fee or FX fee for this card. Collabria's terms PDFs are robots.txt-blocked, so FX markup cannot be verified online. No travel insurance, no rental car CDW.
Our verdict
A fixed 12.99% is the lowest widely available fixed business card rate in Canada, and unlike the prime linked cards from ATB, Scotiabank and RBC it does not move when the Bank of Canada does. For a business carrying $10,000 that is roughly $700 a year saved against a standard card, for a $25 fee.
Check which credit union you are applying through, because it changes the price. The same card is 12.99% at Access and Cambrian and 13.99% at Coast Capital, which is a full point on an identical product. Access also publishes the same 12.99% on cash advances, which almost no card in Canada does and is worth seeking out specifically.
