What we like, and what we don’t
Worth having
- No annual fee and no fee for additional cards
- 1 Scene+ point a dollar at Home Hardware and homehardware.ca
- Up to 7,500 bonus Scene+ points for $1,000 of Home Hardware spending
- Up to 10 cents a litre in combined fuel value at Shell
- Sensible as a trade account for a contractor who buys at Home Hardware
Watch out for
- Purchases away from Home Hardware earn nothing. This is a genuine zero, not an unpublished rate
- Scotiabank publishes no fixed APR, only a range from prime plus 4.99% to 10.99%
- The rate depends on whether the account is secured, and Scotiabank does not say who gets what
- No travel insurance
- Scene+ is fixed at a cent a point, so the Home Hardware rate is 1%

The earning fine print
1 Scene+ point per $1 spent at Home Hardware locations and at homehardware.ca ONLY. Scotiabank publishes no earn rate for spend anywhere else, so earn_base is recorded as a genuine 0. Purchases outside the Home Hardware network earn nothing. Plus up to 10 cents per litre in combined fuel value at Shell (3 cents instant discount plus up to 2 cents in Scene+ point value). Scotiabank's own welcome offer wording (7,500 Scene+ points = $75) establishes a fixed Scene+ value of 1 cent per point.
The welcome offer
- Welcome bonus
- 7,500 points after you spend $1,000, within 3 months
- Offer ends
- 2026-09-30
What the offer actually requires
Up to 7,500 bonus Scene+ points ($75 value) for spending $1,000 at eligible Home Hardware locations within 3 months of account opening. The qualifying spend must be AT HOME HARDWARE, not general spend. Applications must be made between 1 July and 30 September 2026.

What the benefits really mean
Purchase security and extended warranty coverage, 90 days theft/loss/damage protection. Scotia SelectPay instalment plans. Visa SavingsEdge. Up to 25% savings on Avis and Budget car rentals. Credit limits: minimum $5,000, up to $150,000 unsecured or $500,000 secured. No travel insurance. Trade-focused card aimed at contractors and Home Hardware PRO customers. NO FIXED APR. Scotiabank publishes only 'From Prime + 4.99% to 10.99%' depending on whether the account is secured or unsecured. Scotiabank's business card listing page describes the rate merely as 'competitive interest rate tied to Scotiabank's prime rate'. Do not invent a number. earn_base is a GENUINE ZERO. Points are earned only at Home Hardware and homehardware.ca. This is not a general-purpose rewards card. The welcome offer's $1,000 qualifying spend must occur at Home Hardware specifically. Scotiabank publishes no foreign currency conversion fee and no personal guarantee statement for this card.
Our verdict
If you are a contractor buying most of your materials at Home Hardware, this is a free card that pays 1% on that spending plus a fuel discount, and there is nothing wrong with holding it for that purpose. The welcome offer of 7,500 points for $1,000 of spending is easy money if you were buying there anyway.
Understand what it does not do. Away from the Home Hardware network it earns nothing, and we record that as a real zero rather than a missing figure because Scotiabank is clear about it. Every other free business card here pays something on everything. Keep this one for the lumber yard and put the rest of the business somewhere else.
